Chapped skin? Olive oil makes you beautiful! / Pelle screpolata?

Once taken off our swimsuit and said farewell to summer beaches, we need to cope again with the problems concerning our weight and our body’s well-being.
Tan begins to fade, giving place to its normal colour that accompanies our working days, with a dry and chapped skin.
A proper and balanced diet, with at least two daily servings of fruits and vegetables, combined with a right amount of water, helps to restore an adequate level of hydration to our skin.
Even in this case, olive oil can come to our rescue, an excellent ally for its soothing and emollient properties. Skin, in fact, in its outermost layer, the epidermis, is characterized by the presence of a hydrolipid film of sebaceous secretions.
This specific composition is linked to the protective function it has towards the aqueous internal section of our body.
Following intense or prolonged exposure to sun, there is a thickening of the stratum corneum as a defense against dehydration.
Once back from holidays, this layer is lost, causing the annoying phenomenon of cracking.
So what a better and more natural remedy  than spreading olive oil on our skin to restore its elasticity and beauty?
Several dermocosmetic formulations, such as moisturizers and soothing for dry skins, can be prepared using olive oil, due to its specific lipid composition and the presence of important minor elements with anti-aging properties.

A product of our daily lives and available to anyone, which can also help to counter a post holiday blemish. Adding to an egg a tablespoon of honey with oil, you can obtain a simple and rapid "moisturizer".
You can, however, replace the egg with a tablespoon of yogurt for a "nutritious cream" or lemon juice for a compound working as astringent for oily skin.
Oil can also be used for peeling: just one spoon added to one of bicarbonate.

For the scrub, instead, you need to add it to salt which, rubbed on the body and washed off with water and mild soap, leaves our skin soft and refreshed.
In addition to its nutritional properties, therefore, olive oil is also an excellent natural cosmetics, to keep our bodies young and beautiful!
